This paper describes the efficacy of parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) for children with global developmental delays and their mothers. Four developmentally delayed children, aged 3-7, and their mothers underwent PCIT. PCIT in this study followed the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Protocol(2011); and DPICS was used, before and after PCIT, in order to determine whether the quality of interaction between children and their mothers had indeed improved. The Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory (ECBI) was used before PCIT and after CDI & PDI, in order to determine how children¡¯s behavioral problems improved and how mothers¡¯ perceptions had changed, if at all. REVT was also conducted, before and after PCIT, in order to measure the levels of children¡¯s receptive and expressive vocabulary. According to the results of PCIT for these mothers, the frequency of children¡¯s problematic behaviors decreased and mothers were able to notice this decrease. Furthermore, the interaction between children and mothers improved and the children¡¯s vocabulary levels increased. It has been well documented in other research that PCIT can alleviate children¡¯s destructive behaviors and their externalization of behavioral problems. However, this study additionally revealed found out that PCIT has a positive impact on children with global developmental delays.
